Book fair pulls crowds

Political, social personalities, students of schools, seminaries seen at fest

Second day of Karachi International Book Fair 2021 also saw the arrival of various political, religious, social and literary personalities and diplomats from different countries. Prominent personalities visiting the Book Fair expressed keen interest in their favorite books, while the expo center was packed with large numbers of citizens.

Talking to media, Provincial Minister for Health Dr Azra Pechoho said that the trend of book-reading is coming to an end in our country but the International Book Fair is playing an important role in increasing the trend of book-reading.

Azra Pechoho said that the interest in reading books on mobile and tablet is increasing in society. However, pleasure of reading books is not in reading on computer or mobile, so students prefer books over internet.

Even today I am fond of reading books and I would tell people to be fond of reading books. He said that the younger generation should also develop a passion for reading books. The festival is a great opportunity for people to develop a keen interest in books and also to create interest in children to read books.

Talking to media, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, central leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), said that the colors of this city are the color of whole Pakistan.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that the International Book Fair is a great answer for the enemies of Karachi.

The former Minister of Industry and Trade Rauf Siddiqui said that modern technology should not be relied upon completely because if for some reason the digital system of the world shuts down then the power system will come to a standstill and we will have to go back to books. Therefore, the relationship with books should be maintained. He said that book fair is the most important of all the fairs held in Pakistan. After seeing so many books, my heart wants me to load all the books in the truck and take them home.

In addition, thousands of students from schools, colleges and madrassas were seen shopping for books at the book fair on Friday. Children's book stalls were crowded while women also took interest in books based on domestic issues and ideas.
