Doctor's suicide case: 7 officials bolt after bail denial

HYDERABAD:

A court in Tharparkar district rejected bail pleas of seven health officials in the suicide case of Dr Abdul Kareem Shaikh, who took his life last month while accusing his co-workers for mentally compelling him for such a decision. The bail applicants, however, managed to escape from the court with a camera catching one of them running towards the entrance gate as the cops watched the run stagnantly.

Sindh Secretariart Karachi based Section Officer Shafiq Ujjan, The Medicial Superintendent Dr Haresh Jaggani, Dr Mohan Lal Khatri, Dr Abdul Malik Nohrio and and male nurses Manthar Bheel, Sardar Bheel and Barkat Hingorjo reportedly escaped after the hearing. They all had filed applications for confirmation of their interim bails but after the hearing the additional district and sessions judge I decided to cancel their bails.

Muhammad Sadiq, the doctor's son, blamed the local police while talking to the media for showing no interest in the case from day one. Dr Shaikh, who worked as the chief medical officer, had blamed all the accused persons in his written letter and his communication with some local officials and journalists.
