KARACHI:

A major fire broke out in a used clothes' warehouse on Wednesday in Lyari, causing a loss of millions of rupees.

The fire broke out at a used clothes' warehouse located on alFalah Road, Agra Taj Colony, within the limits of the Chakiwara police station. Upon receiving information, firemen with at least six fire tenders along with a water bowser reached the site and started extinguishing the blaze.

A fire brigade spokesperson said that the blaze quickly engulfed the entire warehouse and destroyed all the clothes worth millions of rupees. The firefighters, however, managed to control the blaze after hectic efforts of at least three hours.

Police officials also reached the site. They said that no one was hurt as the warehouse was closed at the time when the fire broke out. Though the actual cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained, SHO Safdar Mashwani said that no criminal act was found during initial investigations. He added that the fire broke out due to short-circuit inside the warehouse.
