Security alert: 56 arrested during search operation

LAHORE:

Police arrested 56 people, including 10 Afghans, on Thursday during search operations in various areas of the city.

According to police, the search operations were conducted in North Cantonment, South Cantonment, Defence A, Ghaziabad, Harbanspura, Burki, Ghalib Market, Gulberg, Model Town, Iqbal Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Wahdat Colony, Sanda, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Sherakot, Nawabkot, Misri Shah and Shahdara precincts.

Police said that the arrested Afghans were found to be staying illegally in Pakistan. The rest of the suspects were taken into custody after they failed to prove their identity.

Operations DIG Dr Haider Ashraf said that the operation would continue in the city.
