SIALKOT:

The agriculture department urged farmers to complete the cultivation of spring sugarcane by March 31. Assistant Director of Sambrial Dr Iftikhar Hussain Bhatti stated that the ideal sowing period for spring sugarcane is from February 15 to March 31.

However, due to climate change and fluctuations in temperature, the schedule may be adjusted accordingly. He explained that for successful sugarcane cultivation, approximately 60,000 buds per acre were required.

This can be achieved through different seeding methods: about 100 to 120 maunds of sugarcane per acre by weight, 12 to 16 marla of sugarcane by area, or by planting either 30,000 two-bud sets or 20,000 three-bud sets per acre.
