Faisalabad Division exceeds wheat cultivation target
Officials expect strong yield as procurement policy announcement nears

A meeting of the Divisional Wheat Committee and Crop Condition and Procurement Committee was held in Faisalabad under the chairmanship of Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar to review wheat crop conditions and procurement preparations.
Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad Captain (retd) Nadeem Nasir attended the meeting, while deputy commissioners of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot joined via video link.
Agriculture Extension Director Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood presented a detailed briefing. Representatives of farmer organisations were also present. The meeting was informed that wheat had been cultivated on 1.839 million acres across the division against a target of 1.834 million acres, achieving 100.27% of the set goal.
Officials further noted that the region continues to show consistent growth in yield, with production expected to exceed targets this season as well.
Authorities said the wheat crop condition across the division is "excellent," raising expectations of a strong harvest. The wheat procurement policy is expected to be announced within the next few days.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner assured that farmers' rights would be fully protected during the procurement campaign and warned that middlemen would be strictly discouraged.
He added that sufficient supplies of diesel and petrol are available across the division to support harvesting operations.
Officials also confirmed that district administrations have reviewed fuel stocks and made arrangements for wheat storage, including the establishment of warehouses.
