Busted: SIU, CPLC arrest two ‘extortionists’

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police, in collaboration with the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), claim to have arrested two alleged extortionists.


Syed Amir Hussain and Nisar Ali were arrested during a joint venture of the SIU and CPLC in Soldier Bazaar. Officials said that the arrested suspects were involved in collecting extortion on a monthly basis from educational institutions, food outlets and health services providers.

They added that the suspects had been demanding extortion from shoes, meat and biryani shops. A number of complaints were registered against them.

Weapons were recovered from their possession while an FIR No 93/15 was registered against them. Further investigations are underway.
