Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini has given an update on the release of the remaining Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle films, confirming that the company is working with urgency to meet audience expectations.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Purini said no official release dates have been confirmed by production partners Aniplex and Ufotable but stressed that delivering the sequels quickly is a shared priority.
“There’s definitely urgency for all of us to bring more Demon Slayer to fans as soon as we can — because we know the urgency is there among the fanbase,” he stated.
The Infinity Castle project has reportedly been in production for three and a half years, beginning in early 2022 before the broadcast of the Swordsmith Village Arc.
Plans for the trilogy were first set during the theatrical run of Mugen Train, with Ufotable initially estimating the complex setting could take more than a decade to realise.
By expanding its studio and adopting advanced rendering techniques, the animation team reduced that timeline significantly, enabling the release of the first film just a year after the Hashira Training Arc.
Based on this accelerated schedule, some fans have speculated that the next two instalments could arrive in 2027 and 2029.
The urgency also reflects the first film’s strong box office performance. It earned US$70 million during its opening weekend in North America, ultimately surpassing Pokémon: The First Movie to become the highest-grossing anime film in the region, with a domestic total of US$104.73 million.
Purini assured viewers that quality remains the priority for the upcoming films. “We’re working closely with our partners to make sure the next two movies are going to be just as amazing — if not better,” he said.
