Developers behind the co-op climbing game Peak have responded to criticism from some players regarding the pace of updates, stating that additional content should be viewed as optional rather than expected.

Peak, developed by Aggro Crab and Landfall, launched in June 2025 and has since sold more than 10 million copies.

The game, which originated from a game jam project, has received multiple updates since its release. The most recent update, titled “Play it your way,” introduced features including custom runs, mini runs and new gameplay elements such as campfires.

Despite this, some players have expressed dissatisfaction with the frequency and scope of updates. One user on X criticised what they described as a “lazy dev cycle” and suggested that more could be done before development concludes later this year.

In response, Landfall addressed the criticism directly, stating: “PEAK has had sooo many updates tho! Neither us or Aggro Crab are live service studios, any update is a bonus, not a right.”

The exchange continued as the user requested further features, including expanded customisation and easier modding tools.

Landfall replied that full customisation “is a big ask” and confirmed that the studio has been communicating with the modding community to understand player needs, adding that it welcomes further suggestions.

Aggro Crab previously indicated there was no formal update schedule in place, noting that development efforts were ongoing without fixed timelines.
