KARACHI:

Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh said that those thinking about minus one in the PTI are living in a fool's paradise.

Addressing a press conference in Sindh Assembly on Sunday, he said the nation stands behind Imran Khan and only he could steer the country clear of crisis. He said it is high time for a minus one in PDM.

Haleem Adil Sheikh had come to the Sindh Assembly after 25 days. He said he spent 23 days in jail, where he was treated like a terrorist.

Sheikh said 27 false cases have been lodged against him since he became an MPA while five were registered against him after the regime changed.

Haleem said that he had a wound in his leg but was not provided with any medical treatment.

Sheikh said he has personally witnessed the poor conditions of the jail, and he would also work for the welfare of ailing prisoners.

While talking about flood victims, he said that he has heard disturbing stories about the plights of flood survivors in Sindh.

Sheikh said that the victims are still in the rescue phase while their rehabilitation is yet to start. He said despite funding of billions of rupees Johi-Dadu MNV drain embankment could not be strengthened.

He said that the rice Canal, Hamal Lake and Manchhar Lake suffered breaches. He said natural waterways like Puran Dhoro are blocked due to illegal encroachments.

"If the excessive water of Manchhar Lake discharged before thinking of the constituency of Sindh chief minister, heavy losses could have been decreased," Haleem said.

If the world knew about climate change then why did the Sindh government stay in a deep slumber?

Adil said diseases including dengue are spreading fast in flood-affected areas, while recently Hunaid Lakhani also died of dengue.

He said snake bite patients are being rushed to government hospitals where no facilities are there for suffering patients.
