KARACHI:

The Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan Police claimed to have arrested a suspect who had robbed a citizen at gunpoint near the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK).

A passer-by had recorded the video of the robbery with his mobile phone, which went viral on the social media. The accomplice of the arrested suspect is still at large, and police are conducting raids to arrest him.

According to Central district police, they identified the arrested suspect, Sohail Moris Masih, with the help of the video on the social media.

However, no citizen had reported the incident; therefore, police registered the complaint at the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station with state as the complainant.

The police arrested one of the suspects involved in the robbery through a technical and human-intelligence-based operation. The other accomplice of the accused, Adnan Albert Shahzad, is still at large.

According to the police officials, the arrested accused and his absconding accomplice had switched off their phones after the video went viral on social media and were constantly changing their whereabouts for fear of arrest.

The police have started an investigation after registering cases under provisions of terrorism and robbery against the arrested suspect.

The video showed Sohail riding a motorcycle and Adnan snatching a cell phone from a youth at gunpoint.

According to the police, a pistol, wallet, a mobile phone, and a hand grenade have also been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
