IG advises citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on highways

Dilapidated roads causing serious traffic jams, delaying supply of relief goods

The Inspector General (IG) of the Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon has appealed citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on Mehran, National and Indus Highways as most of the highways are in dilapidated condition due to the floods.

According to the spokesperson, the IG said that due to the damaged roads there are miles long queues of vehicles. Traffic jams are even hampering the timely delivery of relief goods to the flood affectees.

The IG said that it is very important to keep the traffic flowing for the timely delivery of relief items to the affectees.

He said if citizens postpone their unnecessary travel for a few days, the flow of traffic will improve and relief goods will reach flood-hit people on time.

He said that this is the time to work together and help flood effectees.

He appealed to the public to help and cooperate with the police and administration.
