Citizen guns down alleged robber in DHA

A man, travelling in his car, shot dead an alleged robber and injured his accomplice on Korangi Road in DHA Phase I during a snatching bid on Tuesday.

According to police, the robbers, who were killed and injured, had just fled after looting a valuable wrist watch, mobile phones and cash from the citizen in the limits of Defence Police Station.

Defence police without disclosing the name of the citizen said the mugging victim chased and knocked down the armed suspects with his car. The suspects opened fire on the citizen, who returned fire injuring both the robbers.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot and arrested the two robbers in an injured condition. The suspects were rushed to JPMC where a robber died.

Police said that the suspect, who died during the treatment, was identified as Saifuddin and the injured was identified as Saeed. Both are residents of Dalmia.

He said two 9mm pistols and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from the suspects, besides a Rolex watch worth around Rs1.3 million and two iPhones they had snatched from the citizen.

He said that when the victim opened fire on the robbers, three vehicles collided with each other on the Korangi Road, causing damage.
