Netflix is facing a class-action lawsuit over streaming issues during the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight broadcast on Friday, November 15.
The lawsuit, filed in Florida by Ronald "Blue" Denton, accuses the platform of breach of contract after widespread complaints about buffering and glitches during the event.
Court documents reveal Denton claims he and thousands of others experienced "legendary problems," including no access, streaming glitches, and constant buffering, starting around 8 PM ET. The streaming problems were widely discussed on social media, with users taking to platforms like X to express frustration over disrupted broadcasts.
Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports also highlighted the issue, sharing a video of his own struggles with the stream quality. The event, which featured El Gallo’s victory over Iron Mike, became a trending topic not only for the fight but also for the technical difficulties.
Netflix acknowledged the streaming issues in a statement on Saturday, saying, "We don't want to dismiss the poor experience of some members and know we have room for improvement but still consider this event a huge success." The company has yet to comment directly on the lawsuit.
Denton is seeking unspecified damages in his lawsuit, which could have significant implications for Netflix’s future live event broadcasts.
