Angelina Jolie will star in Alice Winocour’s upcoming film, Stitches (Coutures), set against the backdrop of Paris Fashion Week.
The movie marks Winocour’s first English-language feature and follows three women whose lives intersect in the high-fashion world. Jolie will portray a filmmaker in this bilingual drama, with filming scheduled to begin early next year.
Produced by Charles Gillibert's CG Cinema and Closer Media's Zhang Xin and William Horberg, the film reunites Winocour with Pathé Films, who will distribute it in France. UTA Independent Film Group handled the financing, while Hanway Films oversees international sales.
Jolie's role in Stitches follows her critically acclaimed performance as Maria Callas in Pablo Larraín’s Maria, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival to an eight-minute standing ovation. Her portrayal has positioned her as a frontrunner in the Oscars' best actress race, her first nomination push since 2009.
Winocour’s past works include Proxima and Paris Memories, the latter earning Virginie Efira a César Award. Stitches will blend French and English, reflecting Winocour's unique storytelling style.
The film is part of Gillibert’s diverse slate of projects, including Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother and Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut, The Chronology of Water.
