Six killed in two highway accidents

Four members of a family killed in car-truck collision, two die in motorcycle accident

HYDERABAD: Six people were killed in two separate accidents on the highways in Jamshoro district on Monday. In an accident between a car and a truck on the M9-Motorway near Nooriabad industrial zone, four members of a family were killed and two were injured.

The Jamshoro police identified the deceased as 35-year-old Muhammad Shakir Memon, 30-year-old Muhammad Umair Memon, Muhammad Farhan Memon and nine-year-old Zainul Abidin. Zaheer Memon, whose two sons died in the accident, and Noman Memon were injured and shifted to Liaquat University Hospital in Jamshoro.

The family lived in the Azizabad area of Karachi. The bodies were handed over after postmortem examinations were conducted. The incident's FIR has not been lodged so far.

A policeman, Zameer Chandio of the Nooriabad police station, said that the truck driver has been taken into custody and the vehicle has been impounded. According to him, the accident occurred when the Memon family, who are involved in the wholesale business and traveled to Hyderabad every week, was returning to Karachi.

In another two motorcycle accidents on the Indus Highway near Sehwan, a young man Safdar Burdi and 50-year-old Muhamamd Rajab Talpur were killed. Three persons were also injured.
