The minister praised the role of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) while addressing the concluding session of the organisation's World Heritage Centre workshop at the National Museum. The workshop, which was funded by the Republic of Korea, brought together several national and international experts to facilitate discussions on the role of community involvement in conservation of world heritage sites and cultural sites of global significance.

Earlier, experts from Bangladesh, Jordan, Nepal, Oman and Pakistan presented case studies at the workshop to highlight accurate practices to conserve heritage sites. The session started with opening remarks by Unesco Representative for Pakistan Vibeke Jensen. She discussed how community involvement in world heritage protection creates peaceful and cohesive societies and contributes to poverty alleviation.
Several other notable experts from around the globe also presented case studies. They stressed on the importance of involving community members in conservation efforts.
