One of three 'militants' killed by Ansarul Sharia identified

KARACHI: One of the three militants allegedly killed by a militant outfit Ansarul Shariah Pakistan around a week ago within Site Super Highway police station limits was identified on Tuesday evening.

Bullet-riddled bodies of three young men were found near Northern Bypass around a week ago. Through a pamphlet which was found from one of the bodies, Ansarul Shariah Pakistan had claimed that the three slain men were militants who were involved in targeted attacks on police in Karachi, particularly in the armed attack on two police volunteers near Northern Bypass in which one officer was killed and another wounded. In the pamphlet, Ansarul Shariah Pakistan also dissociated itself from the police killings in Karachi and also warned that those involved in police killings in Karachi by using Ansarul Shariah name will be killed in the same manner.



On Tuesday, Site Super Highway SHO Anar Khan Tarar confirmed that one of the three slain men was identified at the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth by his family as Wasey Afridi, son of Yousuf Afridi, a resident of Ahsanabad area of Gulshan-e-Maymar who was associated with the banned outfit. He was reportedly missing for the last few months. According to sources, a cousin of Wasey was also associated with a banned outfit and he was killed in an encounter with the law enforcement agencies in Manghopir.

The police is now trying to ascertain identity of the remaining two suspected militants.
