Govt to purchase 200 dialysis machines for Sindh hospitals

Chief minister presides over meetings to review ongoing work of provincial ADP schemes

KARACHI: The government will be purchasing 200 dialysis machines, which will be provided to hospitals across the province on need basis, announced Chief Minister [CM] Murad Ali Shah on Saturday.

"We have given priority to health and education over social sector," the CM claimed during a meeting at New Secretariat. He was presiding over different meetings of the provincial Annual Development Programme [ADP] schemes launched in Nawabshah and Sukkur divisions.

The meetings were attended by provincial ministers Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Jam Khan Shoro, Imdad Pitafi and Fazay Butt, Planning and Development Chairperson M Waseem, Principal Secretary Sohail Rajput and secretaries of other departments.

Naushero Feroz

Eleven separate departments have launched 75 schemes of Rs6.138 billion in Naushero Feroz district. For these schemes, Rs1.856 billion have been released so far, of which Rs1.365 billion have been used.

Addressing the meeting, the CM said 22 of the ongoing schemes have been provided full funding and they will be completed by June. The CM added that 200 dialysis machines are being purchased that will be distributed in the public hospitals that need them. MNA Asghar Shah, MPAs Sattar Rajpar, Sarfaraz Shah, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and Shahnaz Begum among others attended the meeting.

Sanghar

The meeting was told that there 68 schemes were launched by 10 different departments in Sanghar, the total cost of which is Rs3.386 billion. For this, Rs3.671 billion have been released while around Rs2.525 billion have been utilised.

The CM said he has identified 13 of the ongoing schemes, for which all the funds have been released, while these projects can be completed by the end of June this year. Senator Aajiz Dhamrah and MNA Shazia Marri among other MPAs attended the meeting.

Shaheed Benazirabad

In Shaheed Benazirabad district, 17 of the Sindh government's departments have launched 148 schemes of Rs5.980 billion. Almost the entire amount has been released, against which the utilisation is Rs4.084 billion. The government has identified 30 of these schemes, the CM said, which will be completed by June 30.

Khairpur

Twenty-four different provincial departments have launched 224 schemes worth Rs9.813 billion in Khairpur district. For these projects, Rs5.611 billion have been released while Rs3.279 billion has been utilised. According to the CM, 69 of these ongoing schemes in Khairpur will be completed by the end of June.

MNAs Nawab Wassan, Nafisa Shah, Mahreen Bhutto, Manzoor Wassan, Naeem Kharal, Fazal Shah, Ghazala Siyal and District Council Chairman Sheharyar Wassan among others attended the meeting.

Works and services department: CM orders restructuring to increase efficiency

Ghotki

Fifty-three schemes under provincial ADP were launched in Ghotki district by nine separate departments. The total cost of these projects is Rs1.953 billion, against which Rs1.406 billion have been released. Of this, Rs921 million have been utilised so far. Seven schemes of these schemes will be completed by the end of June.

MNA Sardar Ali Gohar Khan Maher, MPAs Muhammad Bux Khan Maher, Sardar Ahmed Ali Khan Pitafi, Ali Nawaz Khan Maher and Ghotki District Council Chairman Haji Khan Maher among others attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the federal government was accused of not supporting the district to construct roads. The meeting was told that there were a number of fertiliser plants and oil and gas fields in the district and due to the heavy traffic caused by these, the roads that were constructed under the district ADP schemes have been completely destroyed.

The elected representatives urged the CM to discuss the issue with the federal government for the construction of roads.

Sukkur

In Sukkur, 21 departments have launched 108 schemes against a cost of Rs5.101 billion. For these, Rs3.633 billion have been released while the expenditure so far amounts to Rs2.196 billion. By the end of June, 23 of these projects are expected to be completed.

Senator Islamuddin Shaikh, MNA Nauman Shaikh, MNA Suriya Jatoi, MNA Dr Shazia Sobia, MPAs Awais Qadir Shah, Jam Ikram Dharejo and Syed Nasir Shah and Sukkur Mayor Arsalan Islam Shaikh attended the meeting.
