LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has set aside a sessions court order that granted post-arrest bail to a PML-N Youth Wing office-bearer in a gang rape case.

On Friday, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar passed the order on an appeal of the prosecution department against the bail granted to Adnan Sanaullah following ‘reconciliation’ with the rape survivor’s family.

The girl in her statement before a judicial magistrate had confirmed Adnan as the prime suspect. She later tendered an affidavit in his favour. The prosecution said the affidavit filed by the rape survivor was a result of pressure exerted on her family by the accused party.

Punjab Additional Prosecutor General Abdul Samad told the court that since police already confirmed the suspect had fled the country, the bail should be withdrawn. The suspect fled to Dubai from Islamabad airport on November 5 last year.
