Man gunned down over old enmity
Family stages road protest, demands arrest of suspects

A man was shot dead by armed assailants in the suburban area of 435-EB near Burewala, allegedly due to a long-standing enmity between two groups, police said.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the victim, identified as Waris Dogar, was travelling on a motorcycle. Four suspects, riding two motorcycles, intercepted him and opened indiscriminate fire.
Two of the attackers, identified as Rana Asif and Sharafat alias Shaba Dogar, allegedly fired at the victim, killing him on the spot.
Following the killing, the victim's relatives placed the body on the road and staged a protest, blocking traffic and demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.
The demonstration was later called off after successful negotiations with police officials. Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the attack was an old rivalry.
Police sources said the deceased had allegedly injured one of the suspects, Rana Asif, in a shooting incident about a year ago and was later released on bail.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rana Imran Tipu said raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects.
"The accused will be apprehended soon and brought to justice in accordance with the law," he added.
Police have registered a case and launched further investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, a suspect involved in the abduction of a three-year-old girl was killed in a police encounter in Burewala, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Naveed alias Nomi, also known as Ghazi Khan, son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Karachi.
Police said he had a criminal record with dozens of cases registered against him in Karachi, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and other cities, including charges of abduction, rape, murder and attempted murder.
According to police, a raid was conducted at a railway crossing to arrest the suspect, who was wanted in a kidnapping case registered at Model Town Police Station, Burewala. During the operation, three suspects opened fire on the police team upon seeing them.
