LAHORE: The capital city police officer (CCPO) of Lahore and a delegation of the London Metropolitan Police met at the CCPO office to discuss training of police departments under the trainers programme in Dubai for the Safe City Project. The discussion was focused towards ending traditional methods of investigation, improvement in police response to emergency calls and countering terrorism. Lahore CCPO Amin Wains said the project would not only modernise the police system in Pakistan but also provide a proper mechanism for accountability and transparency in the department. It would also help improve the traffic system in the provincial capital. According to the project, the police would be equipped with modern infrastructure to provide real-time information and intelligence to the force, ensure integrated counterterrorism surveillance and monitor the law and order situation in the city.
