KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the federal government has a big responsibility of addressing the concerns of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and should initiate the process so that the issue of resignations of their lawmakers should be resolved amicably. He was speaking at the Independence Day celebrations at Karachi Press Club on Friday. He also cut a 1,000-pound Independence Day Cake. According to Khuhro, it would be unjust to declare the collective resignations as a blackmailing tactic of the MQM because it is their constitutional right, like any other political party, to tender resignations any time. However, tendering the collective resignations is an extreme act and should be avoided, he said. The MQM has not opposed the ongoing targeted operation but has demanded for the formation of a monitoring committee, he added.
