They gathered at Khurarianwala-Shahkot Road and blocked it for traffic for more than four hours.
Talking to newsmen, Ghulam Fareed, one of the protesters, said Muhammad Ashfaq, a driver at the FESCO subdivision office in Satiana was returning home with a friend, Khan Bahadar, when some men stopped them near Chak 59-GB and took away their cash and mobile phones. He said when Bahadar and Ashfaq resisted, they were shot. He said the robbers escaped.
He said Ashfaq and Bahadar were rushed to THQ Hospital. He said Ashfaq died on the way.
He said Bahadar was in a critical condition.
The protesters chanted slogans against the police, saying it had failed to curb crime in the neighbourhood. They demanded that police arrest those behind the killing as soon as possible.
