Bearing blistering heat and prolonged power outages, the people of Karachi suffered another tragedy when two grid stations in the Federal-B Areal locality caught fire on Saturday night.


Around 60 feeders connected with these two grid stations of K-Electric tripped, plunging vast swathes of the metropolis into darkness.


According to sources at K-Electric, affected localities included Federal-B Area, Azizabad, Dastagir and North Nazimabad. However, the utility company assured that repairs would be completed soon. Exasperated by the scorching heat in the fasting month, the electricity supply cut was the last straw.Residents of densely populated localities of Nishtar Road, Noorani Chowrangi, Allah Wali Chowrangi and Shadman Town had blocked roads in protest against power outages.
