ANP’s former Sindh VP and JI activist among 15 people killed in the city

Former Liaquatabad town nazim was shot at 18 times; police believe the suspects were following his car.

KARACHI: Around 15 people, including an activist of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and the former vice president of Awami National Party’s (ANP) Sindh chapter, were gunned down in the city on Tuesday.

ANP’s former Sindh chapter vice president and SITE town’s assistant director education Moin Gham Pasar alias Moinuddin was shot dead by unidentified men on Tuesday afternoon outside his office near Bismillah Hotel in Pak Colony. Sub-inspector Ayub Almani said that two men on a motorcycle opened fire at Pasar’s car as he left the office to go home. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. An FIR was registered against unidentified suspects. Pasar was also the former joint secretary of the Pakkhtun Students Federation in Sindh. He was also a member of ANP’s Sindh Council.

The former nazim of Liaquatabad town, Dr Mehmood, who was affiliated with the JI was killed in North Nazimabad along with his friend on Monday night, said the Gulberg police. SP Latif Siddiqui claimed that Mehmood was attacked near KDA Chowrangi by two men on a motorcycle. The SP suspects that Dr Mehmood’s car was being followed. He was shot at 18 times, including the head and chest.

An activist from JI’s Malir wing identified as Abdul Wahid was shot dead outside Governor House on Monday. The party’s spokesperson claimed that the police opened fire the activists on their way back from a sit-in outside Chief Minister House. In retaliation the party’s activists threw stones at the police. Wahid was shot in the chest twice and died on the spot. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The bodies of 80-year-old Tatma and her daughter Shabana, 48, were found in their apartment on Tuesday. The police claim that the mother and daughter were strangled to death. The bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

In Green Town, 21-year-old Zeeshan was shot dead by unidentified men. The police said that he was a milkman. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The body of a man identified as Salman Katchi was found near Siddiq Wahab Road. The police said that he was reported as missing. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi. In Federal B Area, the police found the body of an unidentified man in block 5. They also found two unidentified bodies near the Ansari bridge.

The Garden police found the bodies of three friends, Sheraz, Shafi Baloch and Zafar Baloch, on Tuesday. They claimed that the men were kidnapped and shot in the head. The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

A man identified as 32-year-old Rehmat Khan was shot dead in an attempted robbery in Baldia Town.

Five unidentified people were also shot dead in Malir, PIB Colony and Lyari on Tuesday night.
