SUKKUR:

Five people were killed and another eight were injured as Sabzoi and Sawand tribesmen fought over a piece of land in Gablo town near Kashmore on Friday.

Initially, armed Sabzoi men attacked the Sawand village with rockets and fired at the villagers with automatic weapons.

Three men were shot dead and five were injured.

In retaliation, the Sawand clansmen fired at the attackers and killed two of them while injuring three more.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Salah Sawand, Dost Mohammad Sawand, Rano Sawand, Fateh Mohammad Sabzoi and Azeem Sabzoi.

Two men identified as Ahmedan Sawand and Ali Murad Sabzoi, were shifted to Kandhkot hospital, where their condition was stated to be critical.

As the clash continues, police have been unable to reach the spot due to the flooding caused by recent rains.

The dispute erupted eight years ago and has so far claimed more than 70 lives.

Two years ago, a jirga was held in which the matter was settled between the two tribes.

However, the peace accord was violated allegedly by the Sabzoi tribe that killed two Sawand men, leading to more bloodshed.
