KARACHI:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to support the September 13 strike called by nationalist parties along with the PML-Functional and Awami National Party against the new local body ordinance, the party’s Ghous Ali Shah announced on Saturday.

“In Sindh, we want the same local body system which is prevalent in the other three provinces of the country,” said Shah addressing a press conference at his residence in DHA flanked by the party’s secretary-general Saleem Zia.

“It is time for general elections to take place and not for the local government system. If local body elections take place, we will strongly oppose them.”

The party has no seats in the Sindh Assembly but for the past few months it has started campaigning in the province, reaching out to influential players in a bid to form alliances.
