Targeted: Former income tax commissioner shot dead in Karachi

Mumtaz Shaikh left his Defence residence for his office when some unidentified men in a car opened fire at him.

KARACHI: A former income tax commissioner was shot dead by unidentified men in Karachi, Express News reported Thursday.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, Asif Aijaz Shaikh, former income tax commissioner Mumtaz Shaikh left his Defence Phase IV residence for his office when some unidentified men in a car opened fire at him.

The former commissioner died on the spot.

The assailants fled the scene right after, while a Kalashnikov and three bullet shells were recovered from the crime site.

Shaikh was a senior member of the revenue board in the local government.

The police have initiated an investigation.

Mumtaz Shaikh ( May his soul rest in peace. Ameen) was a great man. He did not only do good for his family and community but to all those who ever went to him for anything. He was great human being. He was an asset to this country. No one can ever replace him. This country owes him alot for his services and sincerity. Indeed a great loss. You will be missed... !!!

I remember the way he forcefully gave me eidy on a eid day.. Juz to please a kid... He really worked for whole shaikh family n petson like him a few in this world
