Condolence reference: Call for unity among progressive forces

Tributes showered on Kashmiri Marxist leader.

Speakers at a condolence reference here showered tributes on the eminent Kashmiri Marxist leader and founder chief of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples National Party (JKPNP), Barrister Qurban Ali, for his commitment and struggle for the rights of the oppressed.


The condolence reference was arranged by the party which he founded in 1985 with Prof Nazirul Haq Naazish, the newly-elected President of the JKPNP in the chair.

They observed that Barrister Qurban fought for the cause of down-trodden people and working classes in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and for setting up a society based on social justice, equality and peace. He also championed for the cause of independence and unity of the divided Himalayan state on progressive principles, they said.

Speakers termed the demise of Barrister Qurban a great loss to the Kashmir freedom struggle and the progressive forces. They vowed to continue the mission of the late leader and struggle for the cause of Kashmiris and against obscurantist and extremist elements.

They urged all progressive and democratic forces of Kashmir and Pakistan to forge unity in their ranks and launch a movement for the genuine revolution and change.

Those who spoke on the occasion were Prof Nazirul Naazish, JKPNP Secretary General Advocate Raja Zulfiqar, Barrister Taj Muhammad Langa, Head of Pakistan Seraiki Party, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League President Justice (retd) Abdul Majeed Malik, JKLF former chief Sardar Sagheer, Barrister Qurban’s son Muhammad Abdullah, Shamshad Ahmed,  Comrade Inamullah, President Mirpur District Bar Association  Arshad Malik, National Students Federation former chief Raja Anwar,  Comrade Khalid and Tahir Bostan.
