Snake Bite: LUMHS orders inquiry into death

The committee will submit its report in seven days.

HYDERABAD:


The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro has initiated an inquiry to probe the snake-bite incident which claimed the life of a 20-year-old medical student.


The treatment provided by the university hospitals to Rida Fatima, a second year MBBS student who was bit in her hostel room, will also be investigated.

A meeting of the university officials on Saturday formed a four-member committee. It will comprise Dean Faculty of Surgery and Allied Sciences Prof. Abdul Sattar Memon, Dean Faculty of Basic Health Sciences Prof. Manzoor Ahmed Memon, Department of Pathology Associate Professor Dr Mahdev, and Liaquat University Hospital Jamshoro’s medical superintendent.

The committee will submit its report in seven days.

The university also started a cleanliness drive at the campus and the hostels on Saturday.
