SUKKUR: In a deviation from the trend, boys secured the top three positions in Secondary School Certificate Part-II annual science examinations. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Sukkur announced matriculation exam results on Thursday.
Sanaullah, son of Ghulamullah Phul, of the Ever Shine Higher Secondary School, Ranipur, bagged the first position by securing 786 marks. Rajeshwar, son of Ratan Kumar Kewalramani, of the Roshan Tara Model School, Ghotki, came second after securing 774 marks, while Mehtab Ali, son of Mohammad Ayaz Korai, of Mehran Model School, Pannu Aqil, came third after getting 770 marks.
Sandhya Kumari, daughter of Raju Mal Lund, and student of the Public School, Sukkur, secured 763 marks to come out as the top female student in the examinations.
According to the BISE notification, of the 41,177 candidates who appeared in the science group exams, 33,693 were declared successful and 6,875 were declared to have failed. The pass percentage stood at 81.82 per cent, while results of 609 students were withheld.
General group
A total of 3,791 candidates appeared in general group examinations, of whom 3,103 were declared successful and 454 were declared to have failed. Results of 234 candidates were withheld, while the pass percentage came out to 81.85 per cent.
