SUKKUR:

SHO City police station Jacobabad Abdul Majeed Abro was arrested on Sunday over his alleged involvement in a wide-ranging conspiracy that ultimately led to the death of a woman.

Abdul Aziz Gopang, a resident of Dangar Mohalla, wanted his daughter Aneela to marry her cousin, Madad Ali Gopang. However, Aneela told him a month back that she wanted to marry someone else. She was then reportedly forced to flee from her house and seek protection at the City police station after her father and brothers threatened to kill her.

Aneela’s father and brothers allegedly gave SHO Abdul Majeed Abro Rs200,000 in bribe so that they could take her with them. Abro forced Aneela to sign a document in which she certified that all disputes between her and her father had been resolved, and that she was willingly going back with him.

Abdul Aziz and his sons then reportedly killed Aneela while they were taking her to Karachi, and buried her at an unknown location. Aneela’s relatives told the police about the incident. Jacobabad SSP Zafarullah Dharejo suspended Abro, before Larkana DIG issued orders for his arrest.
