District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal has suspended Tajpura Sunday Bazaar Market Committee Sub Inspector Mushtaq Ahmed over poor arrangements and the sale of substandard fruits and vegetables.
The DCO paid “surprise visits” to the Islampura, Shalimar, Tajpura and Shadman Sunday Bazaars, said a press release, to inspect arrangements and talk to customers. He warned several stall holders for selling substandard items, while also presenting cash awards to three stall holders at the Islampura bazaar and two at the Shalimar bazaar for selling top quality items.
Mengal said that he would not allow the sale of substandard food items. He directed the administration to improve the system of checking in Sunday bazaars. He said the purpose of the weekly market was to ensure a supply of good food items at the cheapest possible rates.
