At least three people died and six others were injured in a road traffic accident on Thursday a road between Grey Wala Chowki to Head Muhammad Wala Toll Plaza.

According to Rescue 1122, a speeding truck rammed into a motorcycle rickshaw from the rear, destroying it. The rickshaw carrying labourers was on its way to Head Muhammad Wala to pick strawberries from orchards.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident.

Five ambulances and an emergency vehicle were used in the rescue operation.

The injured were provided first aid and shifted along with the bodies to Nishtar Hospital. The police initiated an investigation into the incident.

Free buses

The Punjab government on Thursday launched 35 free local buses to facilitate citizens amid an ongoing fuel crisis. Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan inaugurated the service at General Bus Stand, accompanied by Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan and other officials.

According to Regional Transport Authority Secretary Mohsin Nisar, all 35 buses will operate from Vehari Chowk to different parts of the city. The minister said the initiative aims to provide maximum relief to citizens affected by rising fuel prices, adding that the service complements existing free travel facilities under Metro Bus.
