HYDERABAD:

The activists of Sindh United Party (SUP) and Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) carried out rallies in many districts of Sindh on Saturday to condemn the Lyari operation.

Initially, JSQM had planned to hold demonstrations across the province on May 4 but deferred, after SUP President Jalal Shah pledged for a joint protest. Protesters in Thatta, Matiari, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad and Hyderabad demanded an end to the Lyari operation and compensation for the residents. They chanted slogans against the government, Pakistan Peoples Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement. While speaking at a rally in Hyderabad, JSQM’s Ghulam Mustafa Panhwar said that the Lyari operation was a conspiracy to gain control of Sindh’s coastal belt. Other speakers warned the people of Sindh to beware of the PPP-led government of plotting with the enemy. SUP’s Roshan Buriro said that the Lyari operation was a scheme to oppress the Baloch and Sindhis living in Karachi.
