'The Kelly Clarkson Show' ends after seven seasons with finale featuring fan requests, music and Clarkson’s children

The Kelly Clarkson Show has come to an end after seven seasons, with its final episode bringing together music, fan requests and family moments to mark the daytime programme’s conclusion.

The finale aired on Monday, August 31, following the final taping on June 5. Showrunner and executive producer Alex Duda said the team wanted the last episode to centre on the fans who had supported the programme since its launch in September 2019.

The episode was structured as a “Kelly by Request” show, with fans and people connected to the programme’s charitable work choosing songs from Clarkson’s catalogue.

The finale also included one of the show’s Kellyoke performances, featuring “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters.

Duda said Clarkson’s ability to connect with guests had been central to the programme’s format and its approach to interviews.

Music also became a key part of the show through Kellyoke, which saw Clarkson reinterpret songs by other artists.

Clarkson performed several songs during the finale, including “Since U Been Gone” and “Stronger”. She also performed her new single “I’d Be Lying”, repeating the performance during the taping to ensure it was right for the final episode.

Her children, River Rose, 12, and Remington Alexander, 10, were also present for the finale. The episode featured throwback footage of the children from their appearances on the programme.

Clarkson had announced in February that she would step back from daytime hosting to prioritise her children. During the final taping, she described the occasion as “bittersweet”.

Towards the end of the day, River and Remington shared their favourite memories from the show. River told her mother that one of hers was “watching you shine”.

After more than 1,200 episodes, The Kelly Clarkson Show concluded its seven-season run through NBCUniversal Syndication Studios.
