Adults Season 2 has turned one of its most foul-mouthed moments into an unexpectedly sweet romantic gesture between Paul Baker and Anton.

The moment takes place in Season 2, episode 7, titled "C Alert". In the episode, Anton, played by Owen Thiele, accidentally uses the word "cunt alert" during a company meeting after speaking to his co-workers as he would with his friends.

Although Anton does not intend the phrase as an insult, his workplace reacts negatively to it. Concerned that Anton could lose his job, his housemate and love interest Paul Baker, played by Jack Innanen, comes up with an unusual plan.

Paul Baker begins using the word during a series of man-on-the-street interviews in an attempt to make it more socially acceptable. The stunt becomes a major gesture of support for Anton, despite Paul Baker personally disliking the word.

Adults creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw described the storyline as an "ugly sweet" moment in the pair's developing relationship. Their romance has remained complicated because of a rule in their shared home that prevents members of the friend group from dating.

Kronengold and Shaw said the gesture felt more authentic to the characters than a traditional romantic display such as flowers or a grand declaration.

The storyline eventually leads to a heartfelt exchange between Anton and Paul Baker, with Anton thanking him while the two share an emotional moment.

There is also a comedic twist: Paul Baker's elaborate attempt to save Anton's job turns out to have been unnecessary because Anton's position had already been secured.
