Netflix has confirmed that The Lincoln Lawyer will conclude with its upcoming fifth season, bringing the legal drama centred on defence attorney Mickey Haller to a definitive close. The announcement also reveals that the final instalment is currently in production and will serve as the adaptation of Michael Connelly’s novel Resurrection Walk, marking the end of the series’ long-running courtroom saga.

The series, led by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, has become one of Netflix’s most recognisable legal dramas since its debut. Based on Connelly’s bestselling novels, the show follows Haller as he operates his defence practice from the back of a Lincoln Town Car while tackling complex and often morally charged cases across Los Angeles. Over four seasons, the narrative has expanded beyond individual cases to explore deeper personal stakes, including Haller’s relationships with his team and the consequences of his past decisions.

In a joint statement, series creators and co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez described the decision to end the series as a deliberate creative choice. They stated that from the beginning, the intention was to give Mickey Haller’s story a structured conclusion rather than an open ended continuation. They also expressed gratitude to Netflix, A+E Studios and the global audience who supported the series throughout its run.

Season 5 will consist of 10 episodes and continue to follow Mickey as he is drawn into a new and emotionally charged legal battle. The official storyline introduces Emi, a previously unknown half sister played by Cobie Smulders, who brings him a case involving a wrongful conviction. This case pushes Mickey into a complex habeas petition that gradually uncovers layers of corruption and long buried secrets.

Alongside Garcia-Rulfo and Smulders, returning cast members Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole and Angus Sampson will reprise their roles, continuing the ensemble dynamic that has become central to the series. Their characters will also face evolving challenges as the final season raises the stakes for both personal and professional outcomes.

Netflix has also confirmed a significant expansion of the cast for the final season, adding six recurring guest stars. Amy Aquino joins as Judge Olivia Alcott, while Angela Trimbur appears as Felicia. Elpidia Carrillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer and Keir O’Donnell also join in key recurring roles, each contributing to the legal and political tension surrounding Mickey’s final case.

The series has also featured appearances from several notable guest stars across its run, and Season 5 continues this tradition with additional casting announced earlier, including Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Diane Guerrero, Steve Howey and others.

With production underway, the final season is expected to bring together the series’ long running themes of justice, family loyalty and institutional corruption. As Mickey Haller confronts both legal and personal reckoning, the concluding chapter aims to resolve storylines built over multiple seasons while staying rooted in Connelly’s source material.

David E Kelley created the series for television, with Humphrey developing it further for Netflix alongside Rodriguez. A+E Studios produces the drama, which has maintained a steady global audience since its premiere.
