The Karachi police on Tuesday arrested a woman accused of operating one of the city’s most organised narcotics supply networks.

The suspect, identified as Anmol alias “Pinky”, was arrested during a joint operation conducted by the City police and a civil agency from an apartment in the Garden area.

Investigators claim she was running a sophisticated cocaine processing and delivery operation with links extending beyond Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad and other cities.

According to the police, Pinky not only supplied narcotics to affluent neighbourhoods, including DHA and Clifton, but also personally prepared high-grade cocaine and managed deliveries through female riders and online platforms.

During interrogation, she allegedly claimed that “no one in Pakistan makes better cocaine” than hers. Police said she sold two categories of cocaine — “White Coke” for Rs25,000 per gram and “Golden Category” cocaine for Rs40,000 per gram.

Police claimed to have recovered cocaine hydrochloride, ketamine hydrochloride, ephedrine hydrochloride, acetone, and baking powder from her possession. The seized material, police added, included nearly seven kilogrammes of raw chemicals and more than 1.5kg of prepared cocaine.

Investigators described the recovered chemicals as highly dangerous substances commonly used in emergency medical procedures, including anaesthesia and pain management.

Garden Station House Officer Hanif Siyal said she had hired female riders to distribute narcotics across the city. He claimed the network had been operating for a long time through select couriers and serving specific clients.

The police further claimed that Pinky used social media platforms and mobile applications to sell narcotics online, particularly in upscale areas of the city.

According to investigators, customers could allegedly place orders through WhatsApp and have drugs delivered to their doorstep. They claimed her clientele included students from elite neighbourhoods as well as influential and high-profile individuals.

Officials said South police already wanted the suspect in 10 separate cases. Two additional cases were also registered against her — one related to the possession of an Austrian-made 9mm Glock pistol and another concerning cocaine and chemicals allegedly used in its preparation.

Sources revealed that one of the cases was registered against Pinky by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in 2019 for allegedly operating a drug trafficking network. She reportedly fled from Karachi to Lahore and remained a proclaimed offender for several years.

Investigators claimed that, besides Karachi and Lahore, she continued operating as a drug peddler in various cities of Punjab. Her alleged network mainly targeted private parties in posh areas, while authorities also suspected links to drug supply in educational institutions.

Meanwhile, a purported leaked audio recording of Pinky resurfaced on social media following her arrest and quickly went viral.

In the audio clip, she could allegedly be heard mocking police and law enforcement agencies while claiming to be operating freely across the metropolis.

“We are working openly throughout Karachi — stop us if you can,” she allegedly states in the recording.

The suspect also refers to herself as a “brand” while discussing narcotics supply and mentioning a so-called “golden stock”.

In another part of the recording, she allegedly claims that “five, seven, even eight years pass, yet no one is able to catch us.”

Earlier in the day, the police produced Pinky before the judicial magistrate for District South and sought her physical remand, claiming that narcotics worth more than Rs1.5 million had been recovered from her possession.

According to the investigating officer, two packets of hashish and other narcotics-related material were seized from the suspect. However, the court remanded the accused to jail on judicial remand.

Separately, senior police officials took strict notice after Pinky was presented before the court without handcuffs, allegedly in violation of official SOPs and security protocols.

According to a Sindh police spokesperson, Inspector General of Police (IG) Javed Alam Odho directed the Karachi additional IG to submit a detailed report on the matter and ordered the immediate suspension of officials found negligent. A departmental inquiry committee comprising senior officers was also formed to investigate the incident.

“Violation of law and SOPs will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the Sindh police chief stated, warning that strict action would be taken against those responsible.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised police for their crackdown against narcotics and directed authorities to intensify operations against drug traffickers across the province.

“The elimination of drugs is our government’s top priority. Drugs are becoming the biggest menace to society,” the chief minister said.

He further directed law enforcement agencies to deal strictly with drug dealers and ensure that the province was kept free from the menace of narcotics.
