Rs146.77m disbursed under fuel subsidy scheme
3,976 vehicle cases processed so far, over 5,000 cases under review

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired a review meeting on the implementation of the targeted fuel subsidy scheme, under which Rs146.77 million has been disbursed so far.
The meeting was informed that 3,976 vehicle cases have been processed to date, while over 5,000 cases remain under review due to issues such as CNIC mismatches, missing IBAN details, and data discrepancies.
The subsidy programmeintroduced in response to rising fuel pricesis being implemented jointly by the federal and provincial governments to provide relief to goods transporters and public service vehicles. Sindh has so far submitted data for 11,980 eligible vehicles.
Expressing concern over delays and pending cases, Murad directed authorities to resolve data verification issues on a priority basis and accelerate payments to ensure timely relief for eligible transporters. He emphasised that incomplete or incorrect data should not hinder the disbursement process.
The meeting, held at the CM House, was attended by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and other senior officials.
Officials also briefed that the transport department has initiated major digital reforms, including automation of Motor Vehicle Inspection (MVI), Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) systems, integration with the excise department, traffic police, and National Highways & Motorway police.
The chief minister appreciated these initiatives and directed further strengthening of digital systems to enhance transparency, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve monitoring of the transport sector.
He also ordered strict enforcement of route permits and fitness certificate regulations, noting that weak enforcement has allowed many vehicles to operate illegally. Authorities were instructed to ensure that no vehicle is registered or transferred without verification of route permits, and to intensify field enforcement against violators.
