Digital registration for fuel subsidy launched
Each registered bike owner will receive Rs2,000 monthly under programme

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has launched a digital registration system under a targeted motorcycle fuel subsidy programme to shield citizens from the impact of rising fuel prices and inflation. A broader relief package has also been introduced.
Provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Nasir Hussain Shah, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab were also present on the occasion.
Under the scheme, each registered motorcycle owner will receive Rs2,000 per month, equivalent to a subsidy on approximately 20 litres of fuel. The chief minister clarified that only motorcycles registered in the owner's name will be eligible.
For this purpose, the Excise and Taxation Department has introduced an online verification and registration system, enabling citizens to confirm ownership and submit digital applications. Applicants will be required to provide their national identity card number and bank account (IBAN), after which they will receive automated verification.
To facilitate the process, the government has abolished the Rs500 transfer fee for motorcycle ownership to encourage accurate registration.
Sindh freezes school transport fares
Following the directives of CM, the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions under the Sindh School Education Department has issued orders preventing any increase in school van fares.
According to a spokesperson for the CM, the School Education Department has circulated a notice to all public and private schools, banning any hikes in pick-and-drop transportation fees for students. Private schools and transport operators will not be allowed to raise fares, despite the rising cost of fuel.
