‘Access Hollywood’ has been cancelled after nearly 30-year run
‘Access Hollywood’ has been canceled by NBCUniversal, ending nearly 30 years of entertainment news coverage

Access Hollywood is set to end its nearly three-decade run, NBCUniversal confirmed on Friday, March 13. The long-running entertainment news show, which premiered in September 1996, will continue producing episodes through the summer alongside Access Live.
The cancellation comes as part of NBCUniversal’s restructuring of its first-run syndication division to better align with local station programming preferences. Frances Berwick, Chairman of Bravo & Peacock unscripted for NBCUniversal, released a statement acknowledging the contributions of the production teams. “These shows have provided audiences with great talk and entertainment content for many years, and we’re very proud of the teams behind them,” she said.
The current roster of Access Hollywood hosts includes Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Scott Evans, and Zuri Hall. While the series concludes its production, the company will maintain distribution of its existing program library and other off-network titles.
This announcement follows a series of high-profile daytime and entertainment program cancellations. In July 2025, E! News ended after 34 years, while Kelly Clarkson announced the conclusion of her NBC daytime talk show after seven seasons. Comedian Sherri Shepherd’s syndicated talk show, Sherri, was also canceled after four seasons.
Industry observers note that these decisions reflect a broader shift in how viewers consume entertainment news, with streaming and digital platforms reshaping the traditional syndication model. Local stations have increasingly favoured content that fits new audience habits, prompting networks like NBCUniversal to reassess longstanding first-run shows.
Access Hollywood’s final episodes are expected to air over the summer, giving fans a last chance to see their favourite hosts cover celebrity news, red carpet events, and pop culture stories that have defined the show for nearly 30 years.
