Justin Baldoni’s lawyer breaks silence after Blake Lively claims dismissed
Justin Baldoni’s lawyer reacts after court dismisses most of Blake Lively’s claims as trial moves forward

Justin Baldoni’s attorney has spoken out after a federal judge dismissed 10 of 13 claims filed by Blake Lively in an ongoing legal battle tied to allegations of sexual harassment.
In a statement shared on April 3, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman said the defense team has consistently relied on “transparency” and evidence, including text messages and documents, to counter the accusations. He maintained that neither Baldoni nor his co-defendants engaged in any form of harassment and described the court’s decision as “gratifying.”
The ruling, issued by Judge Lewis Liman, dismissed claims related to harassment, defamation, and conspiracy. However, three allegations — including breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding retaliation — remain active and are expected to proceed to trial.
Lively’s legal team, led by Michael Gottlieb, disputed Freedman’s interpretation of the ruling. In a response, Gottlieb argued that the court found sufficient evidence for Lively’s core claims to be heard by a jury, particularly those related to retaliation after she raised concerns about alleged misconduct on set.
According to court findings, Lively demonstrated that she believed the behavior she experienced could constitute unlawful harassment and that her complaints were met with actions that allegedly harmed her reputation and career.
The lawsuit stems from Lively’s December 2024 filing against Baldoni, her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director. Baldoni has denied all allegations and previously filed a countersuit, which was dismissed in 2025.
The case is scheduled to move forward to trial on May 18, where the remaining claims will be examined in court.
