'56 Days' season 2 remains unconfirmed despite the thriller topping Amazon charts

Amazon’s erotic thriller 56 Days has performed strongly on the platform since its release on February 18, but there is currently no confirmation of a second season.

The series, starring Avan Jogia and Dove Cameron, has dominated Amazon’s top 10 chart following its binge-style launch. Despite that performance, there has been no announcement from Amazon regarding a renewal.

There have also been no public comments from the cast or creators suggesting that a second instalment is in development.

In similar cases, particularly when a series is billed as limited, discussions about a continuation often emerge if there is interest in extending the story. So far, no such indications have surfaced.

56 Days is based on a best-selling novel by Catherine Ryan Howard. However, the book does not have a sequel, and while the author has written other novels, none continue the story of the same characters. This may limit the scope for a direct follow-up season.

The premise of the series, which unfolds over 56 days, could also present challenges for continuation. Although some questions remain following the finale, the core structure of the narrative may be difficult to replicate.

An anthology format featuring new characters is a theoretical possibility, but there has been no suggestion that this approach is being considered.

The show has remained at number one on the platform outside of occasional episodes of Beast Games since its debut.

Its full-season release model means viewers were able to watch the entire series at once, a factor that may have contributed to its chart performance.
