The City of South Fulton Police Department is going viral after sharing a humorous but pointed reminder to parents: double-check your child’s lunchbox.

In a social media post published February 25, the department said officers received reports of a canned cocktail turning up in a student’s lunch.

A photo accompanying the post showed snacks packed alongside a ready-to-drink Cutwater Lemon Drop Martini, a beverage containing alcohol.

“Before you send them babies off to school… CHECK. THE. LUNCHBOX,” the department wrote, joking that the drink was definitely not a Capri Sun or apple juice.

While the message was filled with playful commentary, officials stressed that the reminder was serious. Mornings can be rushed, they noted, but alcoholic beverages should never end up in a child’s school bag.

The post even included a mock “parent checklist,” approving homework and sandwiches while placing a firm triple-X next to anything labeled with alcohol by volume. “If it says 12% ABV,” the department quipped, “it does NOT belong next to a PB&J.”

The advisory quickly gained traction online, with many praising the department’s lighthearted approach to delivering an important safety message.

Incidents involving accidental lunchbox mix-ups have surfaced before, often due to similar packaging between alcoholic drinks and children’s beverages.

Authorities say the takeaway is simple: take a second look before zipping up the bag.
