The dark romance, which hits theaters March 6, reimagines the classic Frankenstein tale and is written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film boasts an ensemble cast that includes Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal and Penélope Cruz.
Adding a personal touch to the project, Bale’s pre-teen son, Joseph, also appears in the film, marking a rare family collaboration for the famously private actor.
Early buzz around The Bride! has centered on its gothic aesthetic and emotionally layered storytelling, with Gyllenhaal reportedly leaning into themes of identity, resurrection and autonomy.
For Bale, the role marks another bold entry in a filmography defined by immersive performances and transformative characters.
Still, as he made clear on the red carpet, he doesn’t see himself as particularly mysterious when the cameras stop rolling.
