Kristen Bell joins 'Sonic the Hedgehog 4' as Amy Rose
Kristen Bell cast as Amy Rose in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 4' ahead of 2027 release

Kristen Bell has joined the voice cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, taking on the role of Amy Rose in the forthcoming instalment of Paramount’s live-action and CGI film series.
The casting was announced by Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic, in a post on Instagram. He wrote: “WE HAVE OUR AMY ROSE!!! And I could not be more excited!!! Please welcome the incredible @kristenanniebell to the @sonicmovie family!!!”
Amy Rose, known in the franchise as a pink character with a longstanding affection for Sonic, was teased alongside Metal Sonic in the mid-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Metal Sonic is expected to feature in the fourth film, though a voice actor for the character has not yet been confirmed.
Bell has an extensive background in voice acting. She is known for voicing Anna in Disney’s Frozen franchise and has also lent her voice to a sloth in Zootopia 2. Her previous television work includes narrating Gossip Girl and starring in Veronica Mars. She currently appears in the Netflix series Nobody Wants This.
Plot details for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 have not been revealed. The film continues a franchise that has featured Idris Elba as Knuckles, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Jim Carrey has portrayed Dr. Robotnik, while James Marsden and Tika Sumpter have played Sonic’s adoptive parental figures.
Jeff Fowler, who directed the previous three films, will return to helm the fourth instalment. The Sonic series has generated $1 billion at the global box office to date. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled for theatrical release in March 2027.
