Zendaya reveals differing views on Robert Pattinson with fiancé Tom Holland

Zendaya called Robert Pattinson “mysterious,” while Tom Holland says he’s the opposite

Zendaya is opening up about her first impression of Robert Pattinson, and how it differed from fiancé Tom Holland’s perspective.

Speaking with Pattinson for Interview magazine about their upcoming film The Drama, Zendaya, 29, admitted she initially found the actor “mysterious” when they first met through mutual friends.

“You were always pretty quiet and chill,” she told Pattinson, 39. “You didn’t say much, and I was like, ‘Ooh, mysterious.’ Then I talked to Tom and he was like, ‘No, he’s super fun and always laughing and joking,’ and I was like, ‘Really? I haven’t experienced that side of him.’”

Pattinson jokingly responded that he wishes he could maintain that mysterious reputation, adding that staying silent often makes people think he’s intimidating, though he admits he can’t keep it up for long.

Zendaya teased that he managed to maintain the aura “for a while” before they began working closely together.

The pair are set to appear in three films this year: The Drama, Dune: Part Three and The Odyssey, which also features Holland. Pattinson famously starred in the Twilight franchise, beginning with Twilight.

Zendaya and Holland got engaged in January 2025, four years after confirming their relationship. Holland and Pattinson previously worked together on The Devil All the Time and have remained close friends.

“I love Rob to death, he's a good friend of mine,” Holland previously told GQ.
