Apple Martin has spoken about her experience with acne and the role her mother, Gwyneth Paltrow, played in helping her manage breakouts.

In a video for Vogue’s Beauty Secrets series published on February 12, the 21-year-old reflected on how acne affected her confidence. “My acne is not crazy crazy,” she said. “But it definitely affected my self-esteem.”

Apple said her mother “definitely gave me advice” during more severe flare-ups in 2020. Referring to Paltrow’s wellness brand, she added, “She would ask all of her super ‘Goop-y’ people about where I should go visit. So I went to the dermatologist a million times. You find a good, chill skincare routine, and, like, drink a lot of water, and honestly, the more that you stress about it, the worse it'll get, most likely.”

She noted that the most difficult period occurred during the Covid pandemic. “Luckily, the worst it got was during COVID,” Apple said. “So, I could kind of, like, hide it. Now, I'm just kind of like, I'm human. What am I gonna do if I have a pimple? It's not the end of my life.”

In a separate clip, Apple addressed speculation about cosmetic procedures. “I got lip filler one time,” she said, adding, “I think I got it when I was 18. I just thought that it was too big. But everyone seems to think that I have crazy lip filler. I just pout my lips a lot and I put on a lot of lip liner.”

Apple, the daughter of Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, made her fashion debut at Paris Fashion Week in 2023 and has since appeared at public events alongside her family.
